Justin Bonomo Signs With Bodog
Posted on May 5, 2008Bodog today announced that it has signed 22-year-old professional poker player Justin Bonomo to its roster of Team Bodog pros. The accomplished young cardplayer from Los Angeles, who is known around the poker world simply as “ZeeJustin,” will join pros David Williams, Evelyn Ng and Jean-Robert Bellande at major televised tournaments, including this summer’s World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
“Justin is one of the most feared and skilled players in poker today and we’re thrilled to officially have him join our team,” says Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris.
Known for his aggressive playing style, analytical approach to the game and ability to quickly read opponents, Bonomo has become a dominating force at major tournaments around the world, amassing more than $1 million in winnings on the international poker circuit.
After building a successful online playing portfolio, Bonomo first exploded onto the live poker scene in 2005 at the European Poker Tour French Open in Deauville, France, where he became the youngest player to ever make a televised final table at 19 years, 5 months and 20 days. Turning 21 in September 2006 and finally able to play live tournaments in the U.S., Bonomo wasted no time finding success on American soil by making an impressive four final tables at the 2006 Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, including a seventh place finish in the series’ WPT-televised main event.
Playing in his first World Series of Poker last summer, Bonomo earned a total of three cashes, and most notably, he stormed to the final table in Event No. 10, the $2,000 buy-in No-Limit Holdem event, as the overwhelming chip leader and ended up fourth out of a huge field of 1,531 players. Most recently, Bonomo made high-profile final tables at the 2007 Caesars Palace Classic Main Event in October and the 2008 WPT Borgata Winter Open this past January.
While Bonomo is known mostly for his success at the No-Limit Texas Holdem tables, he has proven that he is a complete poker player deftly versed at all formats of poker. Last summer, he was the youngest player left standing in the prestigious $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2007 World Series of Poker, and he finished second in the $3,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2007 WSOP Circuit Event – Caesars Palace Las Vegas.
