Poker Pro Brandi Hawbaker Dead at 26
Posted on April 17, 2008
Professional Poker player Brandi Hawbaker, who recently changed her name to Naami Dea, has died at the age of 26 in an apparent suicide.Brandi Hawbaker burst onto the scene in 2006, playing the World Poker Tour circuit and cashing in the money a few times. Since her emergence, she was the subject of conversation on many of the prominent internet forums for her escapades on and off the felt.
Speculation first emerged when a comment on Wicked Chops Poker was posted mentioning Brandi's death. Hours later, Brian Micon broke the story at Neverwin Poker, a website and forum notorious for practical jokes and stupid humor. The fact that the story broke on NWP caused many to believe this was just a sick attempt at humor, but the story has been verified by multiple sources that were close to Brandi, including her immediate family.
There will be a statement released about her death in due time, and the Hawbaker family requests their privacy during this difficult time.
Our condolences go out to the Hawbaker family.
